THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been lodged against Unni Mukundan-starrer Marco. It was KPCC member JS Akhil who lodged the complaint with the State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights and the Censor Board. According to Akhil's complaint, the film, certified 'A' by the Censor Board, is being screened to viewers under the age of 18.

'I watched the film yesterday. It is extremely violent and not suitable for anyone below 18 years of age. Unfortunately, many children are unaware of this restriction and are attending screenings in several theatres where no measures are in place to prevent their entry,' Akhil mentioned in his complaint.

'After watching the movie, it becomes clear that the makers' claims about the film were not mere marketing strategies. 'Marco' features unsettling scenes of violence that go beyond anything previously seen in Indian cinema, let alone Malayalam cinema. While villains are typically expected to commit murders, the film portrays graphic and extreme acts of violence, including ears being bitten off, necks severed with cutting machines, and hearts, eyes, and intestines being ripped out. A particularly shocking sequence involves a fetus being removed from a mother's womb with bare hands. Such content is deeply disturbing and unsuitable for children. Immediate action is needed to enforce restrictions on minors attending these screenings,' Akhil added.
