KOVALAM: Kovalam is all set to become the epicentre for Christmas and New Year celebrations in the capital city. Preparations are going in full swing under the leadership of the Kovalam Tourism Promotion Council and Kovalam Police. This time too, police have imposed strict restrictions on celebrations, including DJ parties in private hotels.

Special checks will be conducted for rides, including illegal speed boats. According to reports, thousands are expected to reach the scenic beach town in the coming days. Parking will be provided from Mayakunnu, Thozhichal, Searock Beach, Grow Beach, and Kovalam Junction. There will also be restrictions on private parties and celebrations on the beach.

DJs should get permission from the police before joining the parties. The starting and ending times of the parties should be informed. Records of party participants should be kept. Lights should not be turned off at midnight and no one is allowed to enter the swimming pool drunk. If found any breach of rules, the hotel owners will be held responsible. Hotel employees without PCC will not be allowed in Kovalam establishments.

Fireworks with thunderous sounds are banned on the premises. Those using the sound system must have a mic order. There will be vehicle restrictions from Kovalam Junction to the beach after 10 pm on New Year's Day. Those staying in hotels and tourists arriving at Kovalam should reach their respective hotels before 8 pm.

A meeting of the Hotel and Restaurant Association and other related establishment owners will be called soon before the New Year celebrations.
