KOZHIKODE: More information surface in the incident of finding two dead inside a caravan at Vadakara in Kozhikode. The cause of their death was found to be toxic fumes from the generator. It has been found that the two died from inhaling carbon monoxide. The poisoning could have been from the generator attached to the vehicle. The generator was operated without placing it outside the vehicle, which caused toxic fumes to enter the vehicle.


Medical college forensic head Sujith Sreenivasan and assistant professor P P Ajesh inspected the caravan. The bodies of Manoj and Joel, employees of the Lifeline Hospitality Company at Edappal in Malappuram, were found in the caravan on the side of the national highway the other day. Manoj belongs to Vaniyambalam at Wandoor in Malappuram. Joel is a native of Parassery in Kannur.


A family from Kunnamkulam was taken to Kannur in the caravan on Sunday to attend a wedding. After dropping them there, Joel and Manoj left Kannur by 11.30 pm. The vehicle was parked on the roadside at Karimbanappalam at around 12:30. The vehicle was supposed to reach Malappuram by Monday afternoon.


After the caravan did not arrive, the company conducted an investigation and found that it was parked at Karimbanappalam with the help of GPS. The company later informed a local resident. The locals then conducted an investigation and found the two bodies inside the caravan. Joel's body was found wrapped in a blanket behind the caravan. Manoj's body was lying next to the door of the caravan. Manoj had the car key in his hand.
