THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance' preliminary investigation report in the case in connection with the suicide of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu has emerged. The report was released by a Malayalam channel. The vigilance report said that there is no evidence for T V Prasanthan giving bribe to Naveen Babu. The vigilance has found that there is no evidence beyond Prasanthan's statement that he gave bribe to Naveen Babu. The vigilance report also said that there is no reason to file a case against Prasanthan for his revelation in giving bribe.
The report also mentioned that Prasanthan was not able to produce any evidence to prove ADM receiving bribe. The investigation was conducted by Kozhikode Vigilance Special Cell SP. However, the report also said that there is evidence that supports some of Prasanthan's statements. There is evidence in the statements from pawning the gold to reaching the ADM's quarters. However, there is no evidence on what happened after reaching the quarters. Prasanthan had given the receipt for pawning the gold on October 5. Prasanthan and Naveen Babu spoke on the phone four times on October 6. It was after these calls that the two met.
The petrol pump got NoC on October 8. He informed vigilance about the bribe paid on October 10. On October 14, the vigilance circle recorded Prasanthan's statement. The controversial farewell was held that evening. The vigilance had given a report to the DySP on the same day. Naveen Babu was not aware of Prasanthan's statement. Naveen Babu was found dead on October 15.
