CHENNAI: An engineering student was sexually abused on the Anna University campus in Chennai. The incident happened early Wednesday morning. After thrashing her male friend, two men dragged her to a bush and sexually abused her. The incident happened when the girl and her friend were returning from the church.
The Kotturpuram Police have started an investigation based on the girl's complaint. The student of the university was sexually abused by two unknown men inside the campus. A search has been intensified for them. CCTV footage is being examined. No further details have been released about the incident.
Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami called the incident shameful. He also slammed Chief Minister M K Stalin saying the latter wasn't able to ensure law and order in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai said women don't feel safe in the state because the police were being used to silence the opposition.
