KOZHIKODE: A van losing control rammed into a hotel at Nelliyarithazam Junction in Narikkuni Friday morning at 5.30 pm. The driver of the van sustained injuries in the accident. The Mahindra Maximo van carrying one from Chalikode was going to Poonoor from Narikkuni. The front portion of the hotel has been damaged in the accident.

The driver dozing off is suspected to the cause of the accident. The injured driver has been admitted to the Kozhikode hospital. The accident occurred before the hotel opened. The locals said that a major accident was averted.

A 23-year-old youth died the other day after two cars and two bikes collided at Chengannur in Alappuzha. The dead was Vishnu, son of Preetha of Koothuparambu in Kannur. The accident happened in front of the SNDP Union building in Chengannur town on MC Road. Vishnu was thrown about 15 feet high and hit his head on the board before falling down. Another motorist Vivek of Karoor in Ambalapuzha was also seriously injured in the accident. The police and fire force arrived and carried out the rescue operations. A police case has been registered in the incident.
