GUWAHATI: A youth attempted suicide after brutally stabbing his girlfriend to death in Assam. The incident happened outside her house in Late Gate area in Guwahati Thursday morning. The woman dead is Mousumi Gogoi. The youth identified as Bhupen Das is undergoing treatment and will be arrested soon, said the police.

Mousumi was stabbed to death when she was waiting for a vehicle she had booked through an app-based service. Bhupen, who fled the spot after the attack was nabbed from near the housing complex area. Police said that an investigation has started and that they have collected the CCTV footages. The hospital said the woman sustained serious injuries on her stomach, hands and neck.

Police said the two were in a relationship earlier. Mousumi had earlier filed a complaint at Pan Bazar Police Station against him for threat to her life.
