KANNUR: CPM central committee member E P Jayarajan said several Congress leaders have come forward against the CPM in connection with the verdict in the Periya double murder case. Jayarajan alleged that they are trying to cover up the atrocities being carried out by the Congress in Periya and surrounding areas.
‘The Congress killed five leaders of the CPM in Cheemeni. This is a rare incident in the history of Kerala. Six people were shot dead in Koothuparambu. Two DYFI workers were hacked to death in Thiruvananthapuram. So, what is the morality in raising the issue?
The CPM has always taken a right stand. The party has never encouraged violence and murder. The Congress has a tradition of killing leaders and comrades. The BJP is the one who organizes violence with the Congress.
The full verdict of the case will be out next Friday. Only after examining it can we say anything in detail. From the beginning of the case, the UDF and the BJP have tried to turn against the CPM. They made great efforts for the CBI to take over that case. Six leaders of the CPM were found guilty in the case as a continuation of it. The people of the hometown know about them.
We had then said that the CBI was being used to politically change the case by including leaders like CPM MLA K V Kunhiraman in the case. The stand of the Congress now proves that it is true. The people criticizing also know that Kunhiraman is innocent. Therefore, after considering legal matters, steps will be taken to protect the innocent comrades of the party and its fight will be intensified. The observation was made by the lower court. It is not the final verdict. There are courts above that,' clarified Jayarajan.
