CHENNAI: Four people, including three from a family, were found dead in a hotel room in Tamil Nadu. They were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. It is reported that they poisoned themselves to get salvation after falling for some witchcraft.
The victims have been identified as Mahakala Vyasar (40), her friend Rukmini Priya (45), and Rukmini's children Mukund Akash (12) and Jalandhari (17). The police say that there are videos on their phones that reveal the cause of death. All of them recently participated in the Karthika Deepam lighting ceremony in Thiruvannamalai. In the video, they say that the god and goddess asked them to make a return to the town. Rukmini, a divorcee, is zealous in spiritual matters and religion.
The family checked in at the lodge on Friday afternoon. At six o'clock on Saturday, they informed the lodge authorities of extending the stay. Around 11 am on Saturday, the staff knocked on the door but failed to get a response. The lodge authorities, who were suspicious, informed the police. The police barged into the room to find the four dead bodies. The police informed that they are conducting further investigation into the incident to find the involvement of any other people.
