From the latest box office reports, it is more or less clear that the much anticipated Varun Dhawan movie ‘Baby John’ has failed to meet the audience's expectations. Not just that, with a dearth of enough entertainers in Bollywood during the festive season, the theatre owners in north India have decided to run the Malayalam movie ‘Marco’ replacing 'Baby John' in most theatres.
Made with an investment of 180 crores, Baby John managed to earn only 19.65 crores in the first three days. In major theatres in cities like Mumbai and Delhi, the number of Baby John's shows has been cut, paving the way for Unni Mukundan’s ‘Marco’.
Bollywood Hungama, a media that shares Bollywood news, has reported that theatre owners have allowed more screenings of Marco's Hindi version considering the popularity of the movie among youths in the Northern part of India.
Considering the festive season and the lack of entertaining movies, Marco is all set to explore new waters and may repeat something similar to the ‘Manjummel Boys’ wave in Tamil Nadu. Hindi audiences have already gone gaga over the movie as many have responded it as eerily similar to or much better than KGF.
Many Hindi audiences are massively rating the movie, giving the possibility of a Mollywood coup in the Bollywood arena this time. Unni Mukundan has also shared the news of 'Marco' getting more shows in North India. It seems like the actor’s perseverance has started giving him the desired results. It won’t be an overstatement now to say that this Gujarat-born Mallu would possibly turn into an overnight sensation in Bollywood. Let's wait and see.
After the Hindi version, the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film will be released soon. The Telugu version of ‘Marco’ will be released on January 1 and the Tamil version on January 3.
