KOCHI: Biji, a parent of a participant in Kaloor dance event strongly condemned the shambolic organisation of the event. She even raised doubts about whether the organizers secured permission from the engineering department of GCDA for the program.

BIJI:

“Organizers should approach the Estate Department and provide full details of the event to secure permission. Several things need to be conveyed to the Estate Department regarding the people attending the event and ticketing. Stadium renovation has an engineering department.

The organizers evaded seeking permission from GCDA to set up a mediocre stage. The permission of the district administration is important for the program. The organizers have charged Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500 for a child to participate in the program. The participants received no receipt for the money paid while it should be noted that there was sponsorship for the saree.

Children were given only two biscuits and one juice as refreshments. Doubts are rising as to why we spent so much money on a Guinness World Record for a private agency. 12,000 people including children participated in the event. Even during ISL matches, strict traffic restrictions used to be followed on this route. However, on Sunday, no such restrictions were brought in place and the traffic was in shambles.

Those who reached the stadium from Ernakulam at 3 pm could only return home at 12 midnight. Many tired students had to remain stuck inside the bus for three hours in the traffic snarls. 'Mridanga Vision' got the Guinness record. It is understood that this is a private agency. A minister of the state also attended the event.”
