PATHANAMTHITTA: CPM elected former MLA Raju Abraham as the new CPM Pathanamthitta district secretary. Raju Abraham was assigned the job after the current district secretary KP Udayabhanu completed three terms. Six people including Udayabhanu have been dropped from the district committee while new faces were introduced as replacements.

Francis V Antony, who was removed from the post of Thiruvalla Area Secretary through disciplinary action, was included in the District Committee. Kozhencherry Area Secretary TV Stalin, Scheduled Castes Welfare Committee District Secretary CM Rajesh, Eraviperoor Area Secretary TK Suresh Kumar, Mallappally Block Panchayat President Binu Chandramohan and DYFI District Secretary B Nizam also became members of the district committee.

Meanwhile, KP Udayabhanu, Adv. Peelipose Thomas, Aranmula former MLA KC Rajagopal, Kodumon Panchayat President KK Sreedharan, Nirmala Devi and Babu Koikaleth were dropped from the district committee.

Raju Abraham was Ranni MLA from 1996 to 2021. Born on 30 June 1961, Raju got into active politics through SFI and soon became the Chairman of St. Thomas College Union.
