CHENNAI: Vijay, the president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and actor, met the governor and gave a petition containing three demands. Vijay met Governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan along with Party Treasurer Venkataraman.

Vijay submitted a petition to the Governor demanding that the Law and Order in Tamil Nadu must be protected, steps should be taken to ensure safety for women and the Central Government should fully provide the relief funds requested by the State Government.
The petition states that the people have not yet received adequate compensation for the damage caused across the state due to the monsoon and Cyclone Fengal and they are requesting that the funds requested by the state government be released. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam informed through X that the Governor has assured to consider their request.

Vijay had written an open letter to the women and girls of the state earlier. He assured in the letter to build a safe Tamil Nadu and asked people not to worry. He said, “As their brother, I feel immense pain and sadness seeing their struggles.” His letter said that he will always be with them as their brother and asked to focus only on their studies now. The letter was in the context of the Anna University sexual assault case.
