KOCHI: The owner of the event management has been arrested in the case of Thrikakkara MLA Uma Thomas falling down from the gallery of Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Oscar Event Management owner Krishnakumar was arrested. It was Krishnakumar who approached various agencies for permission for Mridanga Vision, which organized the dance program. The police recorded his detailed statement. It is reported that he is currently charged with bailable offences.
Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya said that there was a failure on the part of the organizers in the incident. " All aspects will be examined in the investigation. The details related to the approval are being examined. The complaint of financial fraud has not been received yet. It will be examined whether the film stars are related to the dance show," the commissioner said.
The organizers had approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the accident. Mridanga Vision MD Nigesh Kumar has approached the High Court. The High Court will consider the bail application tomorrow. Mridanga Vision has informed the court that all safety standards were followed.
The contract for the dance program at Kaloor Stadium was also released. Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA)'s agreement with Mridanga Vision came out. Permission was given only to use the stadium. Permission was not sought for additional construction including the stage. GCDA had suggested that permission should be sought for additional construction.
Minister Saji Cherian had criticized that there was a security lapse in the accident. The stage in Kaloor was built carelessly. The venue had to be barricaded. The gunman pointed that out as well. Saji Cherian said that what happened was a tragic accident. The injured Uma Thomas is still on a ventilator. The medical team has informed that although it cannot be said that Uma Thomas is out of danger, she has improved significantly from the condition she was in before.
