KOCHI: The health condition of MLA Uma Thomas, who is undergoing treatment at Renai Medicity after falling 14 feet from a stage at Kaloor Stadium, remains critical. A CT scan revealed that the head injury had not worsened. While internal bleeding has reduced, swelling in the lungs has increased. She remains unconscious, and treatments are focused on regaining consciousness. Doctors stated that they are closely monitoring the MLA's condition.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated under the supervision of City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya into the organizers' failure to adhere to safety guidelines during the dance event aimed at setting a Guinness World Record. The organizers have been charged with endangering life and lapses in the organization. The event was organized by Mridanga Vision from Meppadi, Wayanad, and managed by the Oscar Company in Kochi. Officials from PWD, GCDA, Fire Force, forensic experts, and police conducted an inspection at the stadium.

A team led by Dr TK Jayakumar, Superintendent of Kottayam Medical College, arrived at the hospital on Sunday night and assessed Uma Thomas's condition. Her children, Dr Vishnu Thomas and Vivek Thomas, along with her daughter-in-law, Dr Bindu Abi Thampan, are present at the hospital.

One arrested

Palarivattom Police have arrested Krishnakumar, the manager of Oscar Event Management Company, responsible for setting up the stage and pandal. Benny, a resident of Mulamthuruthy who constructed the stage, and Shemeer Abdul Raheem, CEO of Mridanga Vision, have also been taken into custody.


Nighosh Kumar, MD of Mridanga Vision, and PS Jinesh, the owner of the event management company, have filed anticipatory bail applications with the High Court.
