KANNUR: CPM leaders attended the house warming function of an accused in a murder case. Party’s Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan, former district secretary P Jayarajan and district panchayat member and former chief P P Divya attended the function. The leaders attended the house warming function of Sreejith, accused in the murder case of BJP activist Nikhil of Vadakkumbadu.
Karayi Rajan, Shafi, accused in the murder case of T P Chandrasekharan and Akash Thillenkeri, accused in the murder case of Shuhaib, a youth congress activist of Mattannur. Sreejith is the prime accused in the Nikhil murder case which happened in March 2008. Sreejith was sentenced to life imprisonment in this case and is serving sentence now.
Sreejith was convicted by the Thalassery Additional District Sessions Court in the murder case. Meanwhile, Sreejith was out on parole to attend the housewarming function. Senior CPM leaders of the district attended the function. The leaders attended the function while repeatedly telling the public that the party or its leaders do not promote violent politics. It is also noteworthy that this incident happened while party meetings were being held.
Meantime, P Jayarajan had earlier come forward justifying granting parole to Kodi Suni, accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case. Jayarajan said Kodi Suni was not granted parole even during Covid period. He said the prison chief issued an order granting 30 days parole based on a complaint filed by Suni's mother with the Human Rights Commission.
