THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A couple came forward complaining about the loss of gold kept in the locker of the Co-operative Bank. Remya and Pradeep Kumar of Chirayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram lodged a complaint against the Kizhuvalam Service Cooperative Bank. The complaint filed with the police and cooperative registrar said nearly 25 sovereigns out of the 45 kept in the locker have gone missing.

The gold ornaments of 45 sovereigns worn at her marriage were kept in the locker of the cooperative bank. The locker was taken in 2008. The annual rent was being paid. When she opened her locker in 2015 and examined found that there were five chains and 17 bangles. When she opened her locker again on December 29th, noticed that her 17 bangles were missing.

Remya in her complaint said the approach of the bank was bad when she informed about it. Their replies were evasive. The couple also said although the chains kept in the locker are there, she suspects whether it is gold. The couple alleged that when they inquired after this, a similar incident had taken place earlier and they came to know that there were other complainants also.

However, the bank authorities said there are no lapses from their side. The bank officials asked how the gold will go out without the customer’s knowledge as the keys are with them.
