KOCHI: The organizer of the dance programme arranged in Kaloor which led to the accident of Uma Thomas MLA, surrendered before the police. Nighosh Kumar, the owner of Mridanga Vision, surrendered at the Palarivattom police station. The Kerala Hight Court had the other day directed Nighosh Kumar to appear before the police at 2 pm today. The move was to arrest him if he fails to appear. The CEO of Mridanga Vision arrested told the investigation team that Nighosh was controlling everything.
Meantime, City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya said that if required, actress and dancer Divya Unni will be summoned for her statement. Divya Unni had returned to America the other day amid hints of questioning her in the case.
The accident occurred at the venue arranged for the VIPs at Kaloor Stadium for the dance programme to enter the Guinness Records. The footage of Uma Thomas falling 15 feet from the stage was circulated on social media. It is clear from the footage that there was no space on the stage. In the video, you can see Uma Thomas coming from the back row to the front row. She first sat in a chair and then stood up.
While trying to pass someone standing on the stage, the MLA slipped and fell down along with the ribboned stand. City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya and Minister Saji Cherian were in the next chair. The accident happened in front of them. Minister Saji Cherian had reacted to the incident. He said that what happened during the event was a major security lapse and the government would take strict action.
