THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 63rd State School Kalolsavam is set to commence tomorrow. The Director of General Education will hoist the flag at 9 AM at the Central Stadium. The flagpole is designed in the shape of a 15-foot-tall model of a veena. Chief Minister Pinaray Vijayan will inaugurate the Arts Festival at 10 AM at MT Nila at the Central Stadium, the main venue. Minister V. Sivankutty will preside over the function, while Principal Secretary of General Education, Rani George, will deliver the welcome address.

Ministers GR Anil, K Rajan, AK Saseendran, Roshy Augustine, KN Balagopal, and a total of 29 distinguished guests will attend the event. The inaugural dance performance, choreographed to the welcome song written by Sreenivasan Thuneri and composed by Kavalam Sreekumar, will be jointly presented by students from Kalamandalam and public schools. Additionally, a dance sculpture performance by students of Wayanad Vellarmala G.H.S.S. will also take place.

After the inauguration, the first event, the Mohiniyattam competition for high school girls, will begin at Venue 1. Although there are 25 stages in total, competitions on the first day will be held across 24 venues. The events will be broadcast live on the KITE Victers channel. Digital facilities near the venues will provide real-time results. Students achieving an A grade will receive a one-time cultural scholarship of Rs 1,000. Approximately 10,000 participants are expected to compete.

Tovino Thomas will attend closing ceremony
Opposition Leader VD Satheesan will inaugurate the closing ceremony on January 8 at 5 PM. Actor Tovino Thomas will be the chief guest. The Minister for General Education will preside over the event.
