KOZHIKODE: A team from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) has made a crucial finding in the incident where youths were found dead in a caravan in Vadakara. Scientific investigations conducted by the NIT revealed that the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning.
The tests confirmed that toxic gas from the generator entered the interior of the caravan through a hole in the platform, resulting in carbon monoxide levels rising to 957 PPM within two hours. It was already evident from the preliminary post-mortem report that the deaths were caused by inhaling carbon monoxide.
The incident occurred on December 23. The deceased were identified as Manoj, a native of Vandoor, Malappuram, and Joel, a native of Vellarikkundu, Kasaragod. They were found dead inside the caravan parked along the national highway in the town centre of Vadakara.
Forensic experts, along with the police, and technical specialists from the company that manufactured the caravan were part of the expert team from NIT.
