BENGALURU: The organs of Malayali student Alan Anuraj, who suffered brain death in a road accident in Bengaluru on New Year's Day, will give life to eight people. Six major organs and two eyes were donated. The donated organs include the heart, two kidneys, pancreas, lungs, liver, and corneas. These organs were handed over to various hospitals in Karnataka.
The organ donation procedures and identification of recipients were efficiently carried out under the leadership of 'Jeevasarthakathe,' the Karnataka government's initiative for posthumous organ donation. Health Minister Veena George expressed her gratitude to Alan's family for their willingness to donate his organs and give a new lease on life to eight people, even in the midst of their profound grief. She also extended her condolences to the bereaved family.
Alan Anuraj (19), the son of Ernakulam Puthenvelikkara native Anuraj Thomas and Bini Anuraj, was a first-year physiotherapy student at Saptagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Bengaluru. Alan sustained severe injuries in a bike accident on January 1, 2025, in Bengaluru and was admitted to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. Following brain death at Yeshwanthpur Sparsh Hospital, Alan's family consented to donate his organs.
