KOLKATA: India had lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia the other day. The failure of the batsmen was in news throughout the series. Rohit Sharma's bad form, Kohli getting out in a similar manner and Rishabh Pant throwing his own wicket were in news.

Senior top players and fans had expressed their dissatisfaction with this. Now, former BCCI president and Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has come out with a reaction to India's defeat. Ganguly while talking to the media in Kolkata said that no team can win a Test by scoring 170-180 runs. He blamed India's poor batting for the defeat.

'We did not bat well. In Test, one should bat well, otherwise it is difficult to win the match. You cannot win a Test match by scoring 170-180 runs. We need to score 350-400 runs for that," Ganguly said.

Ganguly said majority of the Indian batsmen struggled throughout the series. He also spoke about the poor form of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. "Nobody can be blamed. Everyone should score runs."

Ganguly said that he does not understand what happened to Kohli, but he is a great player and he will come out of this. Ganguly said Rohit's absence from the Sydney Test was his personal decision.

Ganguly pointed out that the batsmen failed throughout the series. He said that the batsmen should come forward with good performances as per the opportunity.
