THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Accused escapes from police custody while wearing handcuffs. The accused is Anoop Antony (32), a resident of Shanghumukham Balan Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram, who was in the custody of Peroorkada Police Station of Thiruvananthapuram City Police. Anoop escaped when he was being taken to Peroorkada District Model Hospital for medical examination. He is an accused in a chain theft case. He was taken into custody by the Peroorkada police from the Thiruvallam police in connection with a case.

Anoop is accused in several criminal cases. Sub-Inspector Mithun of Peroorkada Police Station responded that the search for the accused is in progress and he will be arrested soon. The police are checking the CCTV footage also.

It is reported that the accused escaped and ran towards Ambalamukku. The police have come to the conclusion that the accused may not have been able to go far because he was handcuffed. The incident happened on Tuesday evening. Investigators said that those who have any information about Anoop should contact the Peroorkada police or the nearest police station.
