THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala High Court has issued an arrest warrant against additional chief secretary Dr Rajan Kobragade for failing to comply with the order of the division bench and for failing to appear in court. The court issued the arrest warrant against additional chief secretary for not complying with the high court order to appoint Dr Unnikrishnan as deputy director in the health department under the disabled reservation quota.
The order of the high court’s division bench had on August 9 in 2023 directed to appoint Dr Unnikrishnan, presently working as assistant director in the health department, as deputy director under the disabled quota. However, the government did not implement this order. Following that, Dr Unnikrishnan filed a contempt plea in the high court. With this, the government filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court against the division bench order. However, this was rejected by the Supreme Court on February 23, 2024. Subsequently, the government informed the high court that it would file a review plea in the Supreme Court. However, the court also rejected the review petition on July 18.
When the high court considered the case again on December 10, the court asked him to either comply with the order or appear in person. The case was later considered today, but the additional chief secretary in charge did not appear. With this, the court issued a warrant against him.
