THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting has approved the layout plan of the Sannidhanan-Pampa trekking route prepared in accordance with the Sabarimala Master Plan. According to the layout plan, the total expenditure for the development of Sannidhanam is Rs 778.17 crore including Rs 600.47 crore for the first phase, Rs 100.02 crore for the second phase from 2028-33 and Rs 77.68 crore for the third phase from 2034-39.

The layout plan has been prepared respecting the spiritual and cultural heritage of Sannidhanam. The layout plan has been prepared by dividing the Sannidhanam region into eight zones. Two open plazas are included in the layout plan to support crowd management while preserving the visual of Makaravilakku.

The trekking route layout plan has been conceived keeping in mind the requirement of various shelters and resting places for the safe and comfortable journey of the pilgrims along the Kanana Patha. An emergency vehicle lane is also included. The plan includes a buffer zone on both sides of the trekking route to support ecological restoration.

The total expenditure for the development of Pampa is estimated at Rs 207.48 crore including Rs 184.75 crore for the first phase and Rs 22.73 crore for the second phase till 2028-33. The total cost for the development of the trekking route is estimated at Rs 47.97 crore, including Rs 32.88 crore for the first phase and Rs 15.50 crore for the second phase. The total cost for the development of Pampa and the trekking route as per layout is estimated at Rs 255.45 crore.
