WADAKKANCHERRY: Two youths from Wadakkancherry, who flew to Russia with hopes of better living and a higher salary, suffered serious injuries in a shell attack. Thekkumkara native Jain (27) and his brother-in-law Kuttanellur native Binil (27) suffered serious injuries in the attack. The duo was forced to join the mercenary army of Russia to battle Ukraine in the Eastern European war.

A phone call reached Jain's relatives on Wednesday but before they could gather more details, the connection got terminated. The family tried to connect with Jain but to no avail. They even sought a response from the Russian embassy but were left disappointed after receiving no response. The family keeps hope that Jain will contact them soon.
