KOCHI: The Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has denied bail to businessman Boby Chemmanur arrested on the sexual harassment complaint against him by Honey Rose. He has been remanded for 14 days. Boby’s blood pressure shot up and he developed uneasiness soon after hearing the verdict. The police had registered a case against Boby under non-bailable sections. Senior advocate B Raman Pillai appeared in the court for Boby.
The prosecution argued that Boby had committed a serious mistake. If he was granted bail now, it would be like encouraging such crimes. There is proof for the accused repeatedly abusing the complainant. Honey Rose had clearly expressed her hostility towards his bad behaviour. The prosecution argued that Boby had touched her with malicious intent.
However, the accused told the court that false propaganda was being circulated against him and that he had not touched her as she mentioned in the complaint. The complainant is one who is active on social media and news. So, she was invited for the publicity of his jewellery store. Boby's lawyer argued that what he said was misinterpreted during the inaugural function. Boby had responded to the media in court that he had done nothing wrong to apologize.
Boby was taken into police custody near a resort in Wayanad yesterday morning. His arrest was later recorded in the evening. He was produced in the court at 12.45 pm today.
