THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar said geo-fencing will be implemented to monitor the speed of vehicles to catch speedsters evading cameras. A special barcode will be fixed to the vehicles. The speed will be calculated by checking the time taken by these vehicles to cross the geo-fencing installed at various places on the road. Strong action will be taken against speedsters. The minister was presenting the topic of youth generation and traffic laws at the KLIBF Talk.
The implementation of black punching on the license is being considered for each of the violations. The minister said that when the number of black punches exceeds a certain number, the license will be automatically cancelled. He reminded that the steps to get it back if the license is cancelled will not be easy.
The minister clarified that encroachment on the road and parking on the roadside will be strictly prohibited and that protests against this will not be accepted.
Recently, accidents have been increasing in the state. Many people have lost their lives. Excessive speed and driver’s negligence are the main causes of accidents. Along with this, drivers falling asleep also leads to accidents. Although AI cameras have been installed on most roads in the state, people, including the youth put dust in the eyes of the cameras.
