PALAKKAD: The mother of the two girls who died under mysterious circumstances in Walayar stated that she and her husband will prove their innocence. She also challenged the CBI to produce evidence supporting their accusations. She alleged that the CBI implicated her husband and her as they could not reveal the real culprits. She expressed a loss of faith in the CBI's ability to catch the perpetrators through their investigation.
"I now feel that the Kerala Police is better than the CBI. One day, the truth that my daughters were murdered will be revealed. Along with the legal fight, we will also continue to protest for justice. The CBI's aim is to sabotage the case. The court and the government had earlier ordered a CBI investigation because it became evident that the initial police inquiry was flawed and manipulated," she said.
"However, the current developments prove that the investigation was not headed in the right direction. It is being claimed that we, the parents, knew about the abuse our daughters faced before their deaths. If that were true, would I be standing here in front of the media today? When my first daughter died, we requested the post-mortem report to find the cause but did not receive it. It was only after my second daughter's death that we got the report and realized that both had been abused," she said.
She further added, "To prevent the case from being sabotaged, we had requested the government to appoint Advocate Rajesh Menon, but this has not been granted yet. We will continue the fight until justice is served," she added.
