ALAPPUZHA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is also a Politburo member of the CPM, gave a stern warning to the delegates of the Alappuzha district conference against the factionalism within the party. He emphasized that those who engage in factional activities should not assume they will receive support from any leader. Vijayan's warning came before the group discussions began.

Pinarayi Vijayan pointed out that numerous party workers are leaving the party because of the personal animosity between leaders. He made the criticism specifically mentioning Kuttanad, Kayamkulam and Ambalappuzha area committees. He said that no party components tried to assess the party's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections or find a solution. He said that everyone must work strongly to regain the lost votes.

Pinarayi Vijayan observed that no investigations or assessments seem to be taking place at the bottom level regarding the issue of vote leakage. He also directed the need to counter the right-wing media. The Chief Minister is camping in Haripad for three days as part of the conference.
