PATHANAMTHITTA: Eight more people were arrested in the case of purported sexual assault on a girl in Pathanamthitta. Kerala received the news with shock after the girl alleged being sexually molested by almost 64 people. The accused will be questioned in detail today. The police will also record the statement of the girl.

The police earlier found that the girl maintained contact with the accused through her father’s cell phone, which they seized. Based on the information received, five people were arrested.

The police received evidence including video footage of the torture. According to the findings, it was learned that the girl, an athlete, was molested by her coaches and other co-athletes. More accused will be arrested today. Police have not released the names of those currently in custody. According to the Child Welfare Commission, the torture has been ongoing for the last two years. The State Child Protection Committee directly forwarded the complaint of the 18-year-old girl to the Pathanamthitta SP. Police have identified all the accused in the cases registered in Pathanamthitta district.

It was during the CWC's home visit program that the two-year-old abuse came to light. The girl handed over the names of 60 people to the police. The police said the suspects are in Konni, Ranni and a police station in Thiruvananthapuram district. A special team has been formed to investigate the incident.
