NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of Donald Trump as the new President of the USA. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on January 20. J D Vance will also take oath as Vice President on the same day.

Jaishankar's visit is expected to help strengthen the diplomatic ties between India and the US. It is reported that he will hold talks with representatives of the new administration. There is information that he will also meet international leaders attending the ceremony. The Ministry of External Affairs itself announced Jaishankar's participation in the function through social media.

Argentine President Javier Miele, Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and Chinese President Xi Jinping have also been invited to Trump's swearing-in ceremony.

Trump is returning to the White House after four years as the 47th President of the United States. He lost to Joe Biden in the previous election. Upon taking office, Trump will be the first person to become the president of the United States for the first time in 127 years, not consecutively.
