Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India, resides in Antilia worth Rs 15,000 crore. It is one of the most expensive residences in the world. Ambani and his family live on the top floor of the 27-storey residence. Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita Ambani, director, Reliance Industries, said there is a special reason for this.
Apart from Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, their eldest son Akash Ambani, his wife Shloka Mehta, and their children Prithvi Akash Ambani and Veda Akash Ambani also live on the 27th floor. The decision to live on the top floor of the building was made by Nita Ambani.
Nita Ambani said the top floor was chosen after considering many factors. The floor has a magnificent ventilation system and plenty of natural sunlight. No one is staying on the other 25 floors. The 27th floor, where the Ambani family resides, is accessible only to close family members and friends.
Antilia is about 400,000 square feet and is designed and supervised by US architecture firms Perkins & Will based in Chicago and Hirsch Bedner Associates in Los Angeles. The building was built in just two years after construction began in 2008.
The height of Antilia is 173 meters. Ambani named his residence Antilia after an island in the Atlantic Ocean mentioned in mythology. More than just a house, it is also a building that has attracted global attention.
Three helipads, multi-story parking, and nine high-speed elevators are just some of the features of Antilia. The house can survive an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale.
