KOTTAYAM: Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose said that Kerala Kaumudi is a newspaper that stands for truth. He was inaugurating 'Rajatholsavam', the silver jubilee celebration of Kerala Kaumudi Kottayam Unit, at KPS Menon Hall, Kottayam.

"Kerala Kaumudi, which has won the hearts of the people throughout a century, has made immeasurable contributions to the development of Kerala. Media are the most powerful institutions on earth. Media can control the minds of the people. There should be newspapers even if there is no government. Newspapers are that important. If you say newspaper editor in Kerala, it is K Sukumaran. He was a newspaper editor who identified himself with the field of work so much. Kerala Kaumudi, which shines in the media field on the foundation that 'development is what is needed, not controversies', has always moved its pen for social change," said the Governor of Bengal.

The Governor also released the special edition released on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations and honored those who have made their mark in various fields. Director of Caritas Hospital Dr Binu Kunnath, Chief Manager Kora Elias for Koshamattam Finance, Director of Etumanur Vimala Health Care Dr Jeevan Jose, Renowned Astrologer Dr Kudamalur Sharma, Director of St Xavier's School of Nursing and Paramedicals Simmi Mathew, Retd RDO PG Rajendra Babu were honored.

Minister VN Vasavan presided. "Kerala Kaumudi, who fought for the rights of the downtrodden, has contributed immensely to the democratic process. Today, the media is being used to market vested interests and many nefarious activities. Such activities have to be stopped," Minister VN Vasavan said.
