THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P V Anwar held a press meet soon after handing over his resignation letter to Speaker A N Shamseer Monday morning. Anwar thanked the people who supported him for his win in Nilambur and the Left leaders who stood by him. He resigned at Mamata's request and said that his fight that follows is for the people of the hilly region. Anwar clarified that he will not contest the by-election from Nilambur.

Anvar thanked the people who supported him in his fight against Pinarayi and the Kerala government for the last six months. He also thanked his voters who voted for him in Nilambur constituency in 2016 and 2021 and the leaders and activists of the Left Democratic Front in Nilambur who supported him to enter the assembly for the first time. After eight and a half years as an MLA, I had submitted my resignation via e-mail on January 11. He officially submitted his resignation today.

The biggest problem the people of India facing is wildlife attacks. Anvar said that he had informed Mamataji about this through video conference. 70% of Kerala is forest. Anvar said that he had also requested Mamataji to present the issue in Parliament to find a solution to this biggest problem faced by the people of Kerala. She said Assam is also facing the same issue. If joined her party, we can present the issue in Parliament and together with the All India Front, we can put pressure on the government to reduce the number of wild animals by making timely changes in the Animal Protection Act of 1972.

Anvar told them that he would join the party before the next elections. However, the problem of those living in the hilly region is big. Mamataji asked me to submit my resignation for the people of the hilly region and come forward as soon as possible. The decision to resign was taken after consulting many people, including the bishops.
When levelled allegations against P Sasi, SP Sujith Das and ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, expected the chief minister to support him. Many in the Left party were against them. But, no one had the courage to say it openly. However, the chief minister spoke against me in a shocking manner. Will not contest the by-election from Nilambur.
