gopan-swami

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The District Collector has ordered the exhumation and examination of the body of Gopan Swami (81) whose family claimed that he had attained 'samadhi'. The exhumation process will be conducted in the presence of Sub-Collector Alfred, who is currently holding discussions with Gopan Swami’s family.

However, the family is firmly opposing the exhumation. Gopan Swami’s wife, Sulochana, stated that her husband had attained, and they would not allow the burial site to be opened. She added that none of her family members had filed any complaint and alleged that those trying to take control of the temple’s administration were behind the allegations. Sulochana emphasized that her husband was not bedridden and was able to walk before his death. Gopan Swami’s son, Rajasenan, issued a warning, threatening to take his own life if an attempt is made to exhume his father’s body.

The police have completed all preparations to exhume the body and send it for a post-mortem examination today. Forensic experts are also present at the site to carry out investigations. Police have been deployed at the burial site, and additional forces were arranged to prevent potential conflicts.
