NEYYATTINKARA: There is mystery in printing the samadhi poster of Gopan Swami (78) of Athiyannur Kavuvila. Police said the children have not given a clear answer from where they got the posters printed. The police said it has to be suspected that the posters were printed earlier. The district administration is likely to take a decision today over the opening of the crypt.

The action of demolishing the burial crypt has been temporarily stopped after the family protested strongly. The family and some activists came forward against the demolition of the crypt. A group of locals also organized to demolish the burial crypt and find out the truth. With this, dramatic scenes were witnessed in the place yesterday. Gopan Swami’s family informed that they will approach the court against the action.

Swami’s younger son Rajasenan said that his father walked to the Samadhi place around 11 am on Thursday and sat in padmasana and attained Samadhi. The funeral rites were performed and then he was closed in a concrete chamber. However, his relative said Gopan Swami was bedridden. The local people have complained to the police that there is mystery in his death.

The police received conflicting statements from family members and close relatives. With this, the collector ordered the demolition of the burial crypt. The mystery continued after the sub-collector returned without being able to demolish it.

A team of officials led by the sub collector reached the spot around 11 am yesterday. Gopan Swami's wife Susheela, sons Ananthan, Rajasenan and daughter-in-law Sridevi, rushed to the spot where there was an inspection and protested strongly. Meanwhile, the situation worsened when another group of locals organized to demolish the crypt and find out the truth. The family members and the protestors were removed from the place using police force.

With this, the sub-collector called the family members and protesting organization representatives to the Neyyatinkara police station saying that they would discuss and decide. The sub-collector also spoke to VSDP chairman Vishnupuram Chandrasekhar, advocate Ranjith Chandran and Ward Councillor Ajitha. The sub-collector returned after temporarily terminating the proceedings.
