BHOPAL: A man killed his 20-year-old daughter for opposing to marry the person arranged by her family. The incident happened at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. The dead is Tanu Gurjar. Her father Mahesh Gurjar, a dhaba operator along with his nephew killed her.
The murder was committed yesterday in Adarsh Nagar Colony, Pinto Park. Tanu opposed the marriage arranged by her family. The woman had informed her family that she wanted to marry the man she liked. The tragic incident happened while the grama panchayat was meeting on the issue.
Tanu had shared a video on social media regarding the issue. The woman alleged that she was being detained by her family and beaten up for opposing the marriage. 'I have been in love with someone for six years. My family initially agreed to our marriage but later opposed it. They beat me up and threatened to kill me. If anything happens to me, my family will be responsible for it,' the woman said in the video.
The family fixed her marriage to February 18. Invitations were also sent. Tanu had strongly protested against the marriage. Following this, the panchayat was called on the issue. The police also reached the spot. Meanwhile, Gurjar told police that he wants to talk to his daughter alone, took her home and shot her dead with his country-made gun. Gurjar’s nephew Rahul Gurjar also shot her and then fled from the spot. The police, who arrested Mahesh, said they have intensified the search for Rahul.
