ALAPPUZHA: Music is life for the people of Nandanam in Chandanakkavu, Alappuzha. The song lyrics will be written, composed and sung. The generations of music enthusiasts range from householder retired assistant bank manager Lakshmana Prabhu to second grader Sanvika.
Lakshmana Prabhu's elder son Sreenesh L Prabhu, Assistant Bank Manager and music director, has released twenty-two albums.
The lead singers are Snehaprabha, Deputy Bank Manager and wife of Sreenesh L Prabhu and Vidya, an IT officer and wife of his brother Ganesh Prabhu who is an Assistant Bank Manager. Ganesh Prabhu specializes in guitar. Singer Sanvika is the daughter of Sreenesh and Snehaprabha.
Lakshmana Prabhu, the mentor of all of them, resumed playing his mridangam at the age of 73. Lakshmana Prabhu's wife Jayashree resumed her music studies at the age of 64. Their dream is to have an album involving all the family members. The song and tune are ready. The line-up talks are in progress to release the poster of the album with the help of AR Rahman within six months.
Jayashree, sons and daughters-in-law, grandchildren Sanvika and Satvika are music students. They are studying music under Thiruvampadi Sreekumar. Sreenesh, Snehaprabha, Vidya are learning violin and Ganesh is learning guitar.
Albums
Sreenesh's first album 'Vismaya Keralam' was based on the survival of the Malayalees in the 2018 floods. Sreenesh's albums include 'Appa' released on his father's seventieth day, 'Amma Ocean of Love' released on Mother's Day, 'Hata Kunchara' which was against deforestation, and 'Aramathilile Koonanurumbu' which was launched in the time of Covid.
'Hatha Kunjara' was shared on the official page of World Wildlife Fund India. Jassie Gift, KS Sudhir Kumar and others have sung in the albums. Resul Pookutty himself shared the song 'Shabdatarapadhathilee Tarame' which was composed as a tribute to Resul Pookutty on social media. They have also made albums in Tamil, Konkani, Hindi, Sanskrit and English languages.
