THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to Investigating Officer DySP KJ Johnson, Sharon didn’t blackmail Greeshma despite her agreeing to a marriage with another person. Even after Greeshma got engaged to a soldier, Sharon used to call her at night for hours. According to the officer, Greeshma tried her best to wriggle out of the crime but had to confess when bombarded with evidence.

“The argument of Greeshma having no criminal background is irrelevant. We believe the court will hand over capital punishment for such a rare crime, which was done with meticulous planning. If the sentence is commuted, it will pave the way for more such crimes to happen in Kerala. Every piece of evidence was collected in the case. A special team was also appointed to check the authenticity of her statements.

Greeshma confessed to the crime when bombarded with evidence. She didn’t elucidate on the crime but tacitly admitted her wrong. She had no options left because the team including me visited all the locations where the two visited together. Even we spoke to witnesses which would not have contributed big to the case. We did so because we wanted to leave no stone unturned.

It was to avoid further questioning that she entered the bathroom of Nedumangad police station and gulped down Lizol. Even after her engagement, Greeshma talked for hours late at night with Sharon. She used to call Sharon after completing her talks with her fiancé.”
