MUMBAI: One has been arrested in the incident of attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The arrested is Muhammed Shareeful alias ‘BJ’. The police said that he is also known as 'Bijoy Das'. The man arrested from a labour camp in Thane has reportedly confessed to the crime.

He used to work as a housekeeping staff at a bar in Thane. He was taken to Bandra and questioned in detail. He will be produced before the magistrate in the morning. A fake identity card has been recovered from him. He is suspected to be a Bangladeshi citizen. It is reported that he has also worked as a construction worker.

The present arrest comes after a person was taken into custody in Durg, Chhattisgarh in connection with the case. A person was taken into custody from Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. The person taken into custody from Durg is being questioned in detail.

He stabbed the actor in the early hours of Thursday during a burglary attempt. He suffered multiple wounds in the attack, including on his neck and near his spine. He was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital in an auto and underwent surgery. Doctors said that he is out of danger.

The police had received CCTV footage of the attacker descending the stairs from the actor's house. It was made into posters and put up in Mumbai and nearby places. 20 teams were also deployed to arrest the accused.
