THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: China has voluntarily suspended the operation of TikTok in the US before the ban comes into force. The app went offline today in the US, which has 17 billion TikTok users. It is reported that China, which had started a cyber war against the countries of the world, is losing ground with this.
TikTok, which China launched in 2016 as a way to create and watch short videos, was enacted last year by the US as a threat to national security. The law requires TikTok to be sold to a non-Chinese or shut down entirely. China's goal was to establish cyber dominance over countries by misusing information collected through TikTok. India banned 50 Chinese apps including TikTok in 2020.
Reaped crores
The main allegation in the United States is that China has sold billions of people's personal data collected by Apple on the dark web and to private companies. China's tactics to promote political agendas and lock down accounts of dissidents have also been criticized.
Land War to the Internet
The ban on TikTok will be the beginning of a fight against China, which is trying to dominate the Pacific Ocean and Asia Pacific, in the cyber world. India, the US and Australia have banned Tiktok in the quad alliance that stands against China. Voices against the app are rising in Japan also.
