PRAYAGRAJ: The Indian Railways is often criticized for poor quality of food and lack of hygiene in its coaches. Passengers often share posts highlighting such issues, bringing embarrassment to the authorities. A recent video going viral on social media has now raised fresh concerns for the Railways.

The video, which has already been viewed by lakhs of people on Reddit, shows passengers allegedly stealing bedsheets provided in AC coaches. The footage was captured at the Prayagraj Railway Station, where an IRCTC staff member is seen inspecting passengers’ luggage. During the inspection, white bedsheets belonging to Indian Railways were found in the luggage.

Social media users have harshly criticized the theft by passengers, demanding appropriate punishment or fines. Some commented, asking, “How can passengers think of stealing such unhygienic bedsheets?”

“This is one of the reasons for the tarnished reputation of Indian Railways. Despite being one of the largest and most well-developed railway networks in the world, its users fail to respect the services provided. For Indian Railways to earn the reputation of a world-class railway, people need to use the services as intended,” another user commented.
