THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are more than a dozen lady killers who shook Kerala. Women have committed murders for motives ranging from gaining ownership of property to covering up their illicit affairs. The killing methods include cutting throats, breaking heads, poisoning, and even acid.

It was the daughter-in-law Sherin who killed Bhaskara Karanavar in Chengannur in 2009 to gain ownership of property. She got a life sentence for murdering her father-in-law. Sherin and her boyfriend Basit used a quotation gang to commit the murder.

It was a woman who was the accused in the Koodathai case in which six members of the family were killed in a span of 14 years. Accused Jolly Joseph, known as cyanide Jolly on social media, is a prisoner under trial.

Anushanti, an IT expert at Technopark, was accused in the double murder in Attingal in 2014. The sentence was double life imprisonment. The Supreme Court granted her bail last week.

Pinarayi massacre accused Soumya (30), who poisoned her parents and daughter, hanged herself in Kannur Women's Jail.

A woman named Laila is the accused in the double human sacrifice case in Elanthur, Pathanamthitta.

Saranya of Kannur threw her one-and-a-half-year-old son into the sea to live with her husband's friend.

It was the mother who was responsible for throwing her baby in a pile of dry leaves in Kalluvathukkal immediately after birth. In Tiruvalla, a single mother killed her child by repeatedly pouring water on the child's face. A one-and-a-half-month-old baby was beaten to death by a mother and her friend in Elamakara.

Omana has been missing for 29 years

Dr Omana, who killed her boyfriend Muralidharan in Ooty in 1996, cut him into pieces and packed him in a suitcase, is still missing. Interpol and CBI searched for her after she went absconding after being released on bail in 2001 but to no avail. It is rumoured that she is in Malaysia and maybe dead.
