KOZHIKODE: The arrest of two Congress activists have been registered in connection with the death of Wayanad DCC treasurer N M Vijayan. The arrests of DCC president N D Appachan and former Congress leader K K Gopinathan were recorded. The arrests were on charges of abetment to suicide. Their arrests were recorded after the interrogation was completed. Since both of them have been granted anticipatory bail, they will be released after completing the procedures.
The first accused in the case I C Balakrishnan MLA was given a relaxation as the assembly is in session. The MLA will appear for questioning on Jan 23rd, 24th and 25th. The police have registered a case against I C Balakrishnan, N D Appachan and former DCC treasurer K K Gopinathan, and others as accused in the suicide case of Vijayan and his son Jijesh. Their names were mentioned in the letter written by Vijayan to the KPCC president. It is said that the statements obtained during the police investigation also led to the leaders being accused.
The investigation team had questioned N D Appachan and K K Gopinathan the other day. The interrogation was led by Bathery DySP K K Abdul Sherif, head of the special investigation team. It is reported that the questions were related to the names mentioned in N M Vijayan's letters and diary.
