THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V. Sivankutty has directed an inquiry into an incident where a student threatened a teacher at a school in Thrithala. The Minister has asked the Director of General Education to conduct an investigation and submit a report. It was the minister himself who shared this information via Facebook. The incident took place at a higher secondary school in Palakkad, where a teacher seized a student's mobile phone. Following this, the student threatened the teacher in the headmaster's room. A video of the student threatening the teacher went viral on social media and other media platforms. The Minister has instructed the Director of General Education to investigate and provide a report as soon as possible.

In response to the incident, the Joint Director of Higher Secondary Education has sought explanations from the school teachers regarding the video that was circulated. The teachers are required to clarify how the video was recorded and shared online. The Child Rights Commission will also examine how the video became public. The circulation of the student’s video on social media has been criticized. The teachers at the school will have to answer questions about the recording of the video and who shared it online. The Child Rights Commission is scheduled to visit the school on February 6.

The incident occurred last Friday at Anakkara Government Higher Secondary School in Palakkad. The threat took place in the headmaster’s room. The school has a strict policy against students bringing mobile phones. The student violated this rule by bringing his phone to school, which was then confiscated by a teacher. The student confronted the teacher about the phone being taken. He was called to the headmaster's room, where he initially claimed to be mentally harassed. When the teacher refused to return the mobile phone, the student threatened to kill the teacher once he came out of the school.. Following the incident, teachers and the PTA filed a complaint with the Thrithala police.
