THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The headmaster of Vattiyoorkavu Government LP School has been suspended in relation to the incident where the school was closed on Wednesday due to a strike by a section of employees. Education Minister V Sivankutty announced that the headmaster, Jinil Jose, has been suspended based on a report by the Thiruvananthapuram North Sub-District Education Officer. Earlier, the minister had directed the Director of General Education to investigate the matter and submit a report.
A message was posted in the school's WhatsApp group informing that the school would remain closed on Wednesday due to the strike. Upon learning about the incident, the AEO visited the school. The school, which has around 200 students, was found closed, and the students had to return home.
The AEO clarified that he visited the school to check if classes were being conducted. Upon finding it locked, the matter was reported to the authorities, and a detailed report was submitted. The strike was held as part of a token protest led by SETO, an opposition-backed service organization, and the CPI-affiliated Joint Council, involving government employees and teachers.
