KOZHIKODE: Musical chair game at Kozhikode District Medical Office has come to an end. After a month-long dispute and musical chair game, the health department has issued a new order appointing Dr Asha Devi as the DMO of Kozhikode. The High Court had directed the government to take a final decision within a month after hearing the arguments of the complainants. Dr N Rajendran, who was the DMO, has been transferred to DHC. He is appointed as Director of Vigilance Department of Health Department. The health department issued the order today only.

The transfer list in the health department was released on December 9. On December 10, Dr Asha Devi took over as DMO and Dr Rajendran stepped down. Later, Dr. Rajendran returned to Kozhikode as DMO after getting a favorable order for transfer from the Administrative Tribunal. It was news that both the DMOs had reached the office at the same time. With this, the health department intervened and ordered that there should be no change in the order and that Rajendran should take charge in Thiruvananthapuram. With this, Dr Rajendran and the transferred Kannur DMO Dr Piyush Namboodiripad and Additional Director of Health Department Dr Jayashree approached the High Court. The High Court had temporarily stayed the transfer order after this.
