THRISSUR: Dineshan, who returned from Yemen, hopes that the release of Nimisha Priya, a Malayali woman on a death row in Sanaa, will be possible. Dineshan responded that the files for Nimisha Priya's release are being prepared properly and that he had met Nimisha's mother. K K Dineshan of Thrissur, trapped in Yemen for more than ten years, returned to his hometown the other day.

Samuel Jerome, a Malayali human rights activist who is trying the release of Nimisha Priya, also helped Dineshan. Nimisha Priya's release is widely discussed among the Malayalees in Yemen. If they had to implement death penalty, it could have happened much earlier. The release of Nimisha Priya is possible, clarified Dineshan.

Dineshan reached Yemen in 2014 in search of work. War broke out soon. He got trapped in an area controlled by the Houthis. For the first two years, he was in contact with his family by phone. Calls later stopped. Intensive efforts began in 2021 to send Dineshan home. The Malayali Association in Yemen also provided great support. Dineshan was able to return home after the efforts of activist Samuel Jerome also bore fruit.

Nimisha Priya was sentenced to death by Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi for her alleged involvement in the 2017 murder of Yemeni citizen Talal Abdo Mahdi.
