KOCHI: Ritu Jayan, accused in the Chendamangalam triple murder case, told police that he is still disappointed over not killing Jithin. The accused was brought to the site for evidence collection when he opened up the brutish thoughts that still prevailed in his mind. Police say that Ritu has not even once shown remorse over the incident.

Considering the possibility of protest by locals, the evidence collection was cut short to just five minutes. Earlier, when Ritu was produced in court, the locals tried to manhandle him, making the police look helpless.

At 7.30 am on Thursday, police brought Ritu to the murder site and later to his own house in the neighbourhood as part of evidence collection. The accused has been remanded in custody for five days.

On January 16, Venu (69), his wife Usha (62) and daughter Vineesha (32) were brutally killed by their neighbour Ritu Jayan (28) in Chendamangalam. Vineesha's husband Jithin is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ernakulam.

Disputes existed between Ritu and the neighbours. But on January 16th, the accused stormed into his neighbour’s house and thrashed three members to death using an iron rod. Jithin was seriously injured. The two children of the Jithin-Vineesha couple witnessed the gore incident unfold right in front of their eyes. They are still not out from the shock.

There were rumours of Ritu being intoxicated at the time of the incident, but police have denied this.
